Although the discovery of weight loss through the use of hCG came about in the 1950s, the HCG Diet has only gained world-wide recognition since around 2007. Originally discovered by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons while treating low testosterone levels in adolescent boys through the use of hCG, the HCG Diet has recently become a revolutionary method for weight loss. And contrary to media misinterpretation, the HCG Diet does not “trick the body into thinking it’s pregnant” nor is it a sex hormone. Simeons himself sets this notion straight in his manuscript, Pounds & Inches, a New Approach to Obesity, where he states, “It cannot be sufficiently emphasized that HCG is not a sex-hormone, that its action is identical in men, women, children and in those cases which the sex-glands no longer function owing to old age or their surgical removal.” While it is true that hCG, known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, is produced in large quantities in women who are pregnant (as much as 1 million units per day), use of very low doses for the purposes of weight loss does not make the body believe it is pregnant. This fact is even more relevant when considering the success men have with the HCG Diet with no known adverse side effects. In fact, hCG in low doses acts as a precursor to increasing low levels of testosterone in men.
An endocrinologist, Dr. Simeons spent 10 years testing his hypothesis that the hypothalamus gland, which is positively affected by hCG, was responsible for regulation of normal and abnormal fat. It was during this time that he developed the specific food protocol, as well as the precise hCG dosage amount, that is now known as the HCG Diet. His clinical trials consistently resulted in a tremendous loss of abnormal fat in a seemingly short period of time.
Pounds and Inches, a New Approach to Obesity, the manuscript Dr. Simeons’ published detailing his findings, gained quickly in notoriety and spawned weight loss through the use of hCG. However, over the years, the HCG Diet declined in popularity in large part due to the decline in the number of doctors who understood Dr. Simeons’ work and who offered weight loss through the use of hCG.
It wasn’t until 2007 with the release of Kevin Trudeau’s book The Weight Loss Cure, What THEY Don\’t Want You To Know that interest in Dr. Simeons’ original work was renewed. Unfortunately, even though there were a few limited clinics in the US offering weight loss with hCG, many people began searching for ways to treat themselves under Dr. Simeons’ guidelines, including purchasing hCG from outside the country.
The resurgence of the HCG Diet has since lead to the development of an enormous array of HCG Diet programs and products, many of which have no clinical basis, offer no or questionable quality assurance, and leave the HCG Dieter on their own to achieve success. Beth’s clinically-developed homeopathic HCG formulations are manufactured under the highest standards and are only offered through trained professionals.
